Edits are how performers indicate transitions between scenes, both as a way to communicate with the audience and to each other that one scene has ended or changed.

Most edits end the scene completely, though some, like Swinging Door, are for brief interruptions that quickly return to the previous scene.

Some edits include:

• Tag-out
• Swinging Door
• Split-Screen
• Transformation
• Line in Hand
• Thematic
• Focus edit
• "Leaving"
